Our Mission

Providing meals to the food insecure

El Mesón is a community service program operated by Border Issues of Texas, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Edinburg, Texas. The program is dedicated to addressing food insecurity among vulnerable populations in the Lower Rio Grande Valley by providing pantry boxes and nutritious meals.

Through strategic partnerships with local chefs, institutions of higher education, healthcare systems, the Hidalgo County government, produce distributors, local restaurants, the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank, and other community organizations, El Mesón delivers healthy, culturally appropriate meals to those in need. Together, these collaborations strengthen the region's food support network and promote health and dignity for underserved residents.
